About

Hi all! My name is Claire and I am the Bite-Sized Baker! I am a recent Northwestern University graduate, retired collegiate athlete, baker, and amateur chef. My passion for food has always been present—ever since I could turn on the oven by standing tip-toe on a chair!

While growing up, I have always helped my mom in the kitchen, whether it was baking Christmas cookies or preparing Sunday dinners. Food is a huge part of my family’s life and once I went away to Chicago for college, I longed for the home-cooked meals and freshly baked goods my mom would make. As a way to cope with my homesickness, I began to bake and cook the family recipes that reminded me of home. I believe the hobby of baking is entertaining and comforting, but most of all, delicious!

My baking hobby didn’t become a foodie addiction until I interned at the Food Network Magazine in Fall 2010. Let me tell you, if slobbering for days on end over countless images of beautiful food doesn’t turn you into a foodie then you have a serious problem on your hands! I decided to create a food blog after years of baking, cooking, and sharing food (and images) with family and friends.

The Bite-Sized Baker will be my attempt to stop flogging all of my Facebook friends’ News Feeds with images of my creations and no recipe attached (Who am I? That’s just rude!). I hope the (few) readers who read my blog enjoy my adventures in the kitchen, my mission to develop and serve tasty new dishes, and my daily ramble.

Found your blog reading your mom’s facebook. This makes me so happy! I remember my first homemade scone with warm lemon curd at a tea party at your mom’s. Thanks for sharing your memories and carrying on the yummy food tradition. I’ll be following! :o )

This may be the strangest question you get on your baking blog….. How do you get your pretty tan?! #weirdquestions ;)

    • July 26, 2012 3:54 pm

Haha, well I try to spend as much time outside as I can! I never go into tanning booths, but I do get spray tans when I am feeling pasty in the winter months!

Thank you, Chris! And don’t worry… the office is always my first place to drop off baked goods!
